The Alchemist by Paolo Coehlo

"When someone sees the same people every day, they wind up becoming part of that person's life. And then they want the person to change. If someone isn't what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own."

I think there is a lot of truth to this quote.  After we get to know people we start to realize what we like and what we don't like about them.  We have very high expectations on how we want other people to act.  A lot of time is spent focused on what others could do better, when we don't even take our own faults into account.  If we want other people to be so perfect, we should first figure out how to better our ownselves.
